In John Marshall/Jon Marshall, John Marshall, the historic jurist and American statesman is added into the mix with Jon Marshall (an alter-ego of Jonathan Marshall and Rick Moranis’s character in Ghostbusters, Louis Tully). What little narrative exists is threaded through the stacking of the various references in the video; a shoddy remake of Charles and Ray Eames’s LCW lounge chair; red, blue, and yellow figures from outerspace; a hallucinatory vision of Richmond Virginia’s historic and abandoned John Marshall Hotel, rendered in google sketchup as part of a mythical mountaintop settlement inside of a Lego block rotating in deep space, accompanied by a triumphant piece of Genoese folk music, as recorded in the field by musicologist Alan Lomax.
